The Standing Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is entrusted with researching, recommending, and promoting educational and programmatic efforts that are consistent with  the University’s unwavering dedication to diversity and inclusion.

The Office of Faculty Affairs has developed a faculty recruitment and rention plan that reflects best practices from institutions of higher education that have found success in recruiting and retaining diverse faculty.

Workplace Equity and Inclusion is responsible for assisting the University of Miami in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workforce and student body and maintaining a work/learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Their diversity pages are a resource for faculty, staff, and students of the University.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are collaborative networks of employees, organized around a dimension of diversity. Their shared goal is to enhance the University’s culture of belonging, making UM a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued and able to add value. All ERGs are open to all employees.

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that protects people from discrimination based on sex in educational programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. 

The Center for Global Black Studies coordinates initiatives that address structural racism and structural inequalities. The Center is a public-facing link between the University of Miami and Black communities both locally and globally.

Voluntarily Self-Identify in Workday

Faculty have the opportunity to self-identify their pronouns, gender identity, and affiliation with the LGBTQ+ community. To update your personal information, please review instructions in Workday. All fields default to private visibility. However, you may choose to change the visibility of pronouns to public (only in Workday) if you desire. Click here for instructions on how to update and add a pronoun to your Zoom profile, name tags, business cards, and email signature.
