    The LIFE team partners with faculty members, academic units, and other university stakeholders to advance the culture of teaching and learning at the U. Their goal is to empower faculty members and others to create innovative, effective, and meaningful learning experiences through learner-centered and active learning pedagogies, differentiated teaching and learning platforms, and emerging educational technologies.

    An intensive hands-on virtual program that teaches participants to use leadership competencies effectively, manage within the law, deliver powerful feedback, coach, and gain commitment from employees.

    Designed by the Office of Faculty Affairs for two key members of the faculty community: those who mentor faculty, and leaders responsible for supporting faculty advancement. 
  • (CIMER) Research Mentor Training
    An evidence-based, interactive mentor training curricula based on the "Entering Mentoring" training book by Christine Pfund, Janet Branchaw and Jo Handelsman to help accelerate the process of becoming an effective research mentor and to address challenging mentoring situations. 

  • (NASEM) Podcast Series: "The Science of Effective Mentoring in STEMM"

  • (PETAL) Course Mentors Program
    This peer-based program offered by the Platform for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL) promotes improved faculty teaching skills through the implementation of innovative pedagogical methods, and the utilization of emerging strategies and technologies. 

  • Office of the Vice Provost for Research & Scholarship (OVPRS)
    OVPRS consists of over 250 professionals with expertise in guiding faculty, staff, and learners through the entire research lifecycle, from project conception and grant submission to sharing your results with the world and creating commercial opportunities. 

  • Research!America
    As an institutional member, all University of Miami faculty have access to Research!America's virtual events and forums. 

  • Responsible Conduct of Research Training (RCR)
    An RCR overview course with modules to provide standardized introductory training to all research teams. 

  • UDisclose System
    An upgraded system that allows users to disclose all interests, not just conflicts of interests, and enables the quick and thorough review and management of conflicts throughout the institution. 

  • (LIFE) Teaching & Learning Support
    The LIFE team offers a wide range of programming, services, and resources to foster innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning practices at the University of Miami. 

  • (PETAL) Faculty Showcase
    The University of Miami’s premiere teaching and learning event where faculty share, network, and discover the ways in which their colleagues are enriching student experiences through innovative pedagogies and learning technologies. Led by faculty for faculty, this one-day conference aims to support faculty development and enhance student learning. 

  • Religious Holy Day Policy & Calendar
    The University of Miami, although a secular institution, is determined to accommodate those students and faculty who wish to observe religious holy days. It seeks to reflect its awareness of and sensitivity to religious holy days whenever possible when scheduling University activities. 

  • Technology Summaries
    This 'Hot Team' process involves rapid investigations of new technologies, services, and teaching techniques in order to understand how they can be used to enhance teaching and learning. 

  • Toppel Career Workshops
    If you must cancel a class during the semester, the Toppel Career Center team of career educators can substitute and lead a workshop on many customizable topics. 

  • (UMIT) Academic Technologies
    The Academic Technologies team works closely with UM faculty and students on projects related to teaching, learning, and technology-based course enrichment.

The UM Libraries offer a breadth of resources to support faculty in teaching.

  • Subject Librarian Directory
    A helpful search tool for identifying librarians with expertise in your subject area. 

  • Faculty Exploratory Laboratory
    Designed to support teaching and research faculty, this space offers a one-button studio for recording multimedia presentations, a group meeting area, and informal seating for consultations and conversations. 

  • Creative Studio
    Expert support and consultation in the use of digital audio, video, graphic design, image creation, and web development techniques. 

  • Data & Visualization Services
    Resources for data analysis, data management, and data visualization. 

  • Equipment Reservations
    For requests to reserve/borrow office supplies and technical equipment such as laptops, video cameras, tripods, and projectors. 
     

  • Department of Wellness and Recreation
    The University of Miami's Department of Wellness and Recreation offers a variety of fitness and well-being programs, including mindfulness, personal training, and other health and wellness programs. The department also manages Outdoor Adventures, located in Lakeside Village, which features a climbing wall, gear rentals, and team development activities. 

  • Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP)
    Confidential support and assistance in resolving both personal and workplace concerns. Available services also include individual/team consultations, virtual wellness webinars, and mental health referrals/resources. 

  • Lowe Art Museum
    The Lowe provides opportunities for learning and connection in our community through cultural tours, lecture series, art-based wellness sessions, and more.

Pregnant & Parenting Faculty

  • Nursing Mother's Room
    Available to support mothers returning to work, school, or campus.  

  • Parental Workload Relief
    Eligible faculty may opt for up to one semester of parental workload relief from teaching and administrative duties.
