The Office of Faculty Affairs beginnings can be traced back to the 1960s, a time of significant change for the inner workings and administration of the University, especially for those sectors related to faculty organization and governance. The office addresses faculty related matters and provides vital resources and support to the faculty of the University by overseeing hiring, reappointment, promotion and tenure, and offering faculty development and recognition opportunities. The office collaborates closely with the Faculty Senate, the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost, the Board of Trustees, and Human Resources to carry out the University’s mission of transforming lives through teaching, research, and patient care.
The Office of Faculty Affairs celebrates its integral contributions to the University for the past 100 years and looks to a bright future for the next 100 and beyond!
Special thanks to graduate student Stefania Papadopulos for her contributions to this project. As part of her studies within the Department of History's M.A. program, Stefania conducted extensive research under the supervision of Dr. Ashli White on the history and major milestones of the Office of Faculty Affairs. Her findings have been integral to the creation of this webpage and timeline above.
